Frankfurt, August 2026 – EuroWindoor has submitted comments on the European Commission’s draft delegated regulation establishing product requirements for windows and doors under the new CPR to avoid ambiguities and prevent incorrect specifications.
Unlike the essential characteristics for which a performance can be declared, product requirements are subject to a process which is not based on performance assessment but on the fulfilment of defined steps or checks. They must be fulfilled to place the product on the European market and are related to functionality, safety, and environment.
For windows and doors, these product requirements are meant to ensure safe everyday use – for example in emergency situations or when preventing children from falling from a height – and to provide a harmonised framework for manufacturers across Europe.
EuroWindoor fully supports the objective of improving safety and user protection, while pointing out a number of places where clearer wording and more tailored solutions would help to avoid practical problems or gaps in the rules for windows and doors.
With these comments, EuroWindoor continues its constructive contribution to the Technical Acquis process. The association remains committed to working with the European Commission, Member States, and standardisation bodies to ensure that future product requirements for windows and doors are both clear and proportionate, strengthening safety while remaining feasible for the many small and medium-sized manufacturers in the sector.
