Frankfurt, July 2025 – EuroWindoor has responded to the public consultation on the revision of the Standardisation Regulation (EU) 1025/2012, expressing strong support for maintaining the existing framework while advocating for targeted improvements to enhance the standardisation process.
Harmonised standards are vital for the functioning of the EU Single Market, particularly for windows and doors. They serve as a key tool in translating legal requirements into practical technical specifications, supporting the effective implementation of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and other EU legislation.
EuroWindoor emphasises the importance of maintaining these standards as the primary mechanism for aligning public and private sector efforts. This collaboration between public and private sectors enhances European competitiveness and regulatory efficiency. However, to increase the system’s agility and efficiency, EuroWindoor recommends streamlined procedures, reliable timelines, and well-defined roles for all stakeholders involved.
At the same time, the EuroWindoor warns against rushing the development process. High-quality standards require sufficient time — especially during the drafting and enquiry phases — to ensure meaningful stakeholder engagement. Accelerating these steps could jeopardize the inclusive approach essential for robust and widely accepted standards.
