Frankfurt, August 2025 – EuroWindoor raises concerns about the European Commission’s proposed assessment and verification systems (AVS) for windows, doors and curtain walling under the revised CPR (EU) 2024/3110.
The current draft allocates AVS for windows, doors and curtain walling solely to the intended use. This approach is seen impractical, contradicts proven practice and risks unnecessary burdens for the industry. Instead, EuroWindoor advocates for AVS to be allocated per essential characteristic – a system that has already proven successful in existing harmonised product standards.
Key recommendations:
- Limit AVS 1 to fire-related requirements.
- Assign single-product characteristics (e.g. dimensions, opening height) to AVS 4.
- Prevent bottlenecks by not assigning all new, previously voluntary characteristics to AVS 3.
- Keep simplified methods under AVS 4 to reduce costs and complexity.
EuroWindoor urges adjustments to Annex III, Table 1 of the delegated act and stands ready to contribute concrete proposals for a workable AVS allocation.
